 A genuinely mixed-use suburb

Greater Maitland is a diverse blend of residential, industrial, retail, commercial, educational, and community facilities. This diversity makes it an ideal location for affordable housing.

The precinct unifies development efforts and will establish a vibrant new residential and business district and play a vital role as a connector between the city centre and the eastern suburbs.

Uniquely positioned in the heart of Cape Town, Maitland Metro is less than 7 kilometres from key destinations such as Golden Acre, UCT, Gunners Circle, and Century City. It has direct access to the N1, M5, and Voortrekker Road, putting most of the city’s economic hubs within a 15-minute drive.

The precinct also benefits from outstanding public transport infrastructure, including stops for MyCiTi and Golden Arrow bus services, Koeberg Train Station and established minibus taxi routes.

A safe and inclusive neighbourhood

The revitalised public realm will feature extensive landscaping and greening, including a new public plaza on Camp Road, and pedestrian-friendly walkways. An underutilised space beneath the M5 flyover will also be transformed into a vibrant recreational park with amenities like netball and basketball courts, five-a-side soccer, and outdoor chess.

This integrated urban renewal programme is driven by BlueBuck Projects in partnership with the City of Cape Town, the Maitland City Improvement District, Madulammoho Housing Association, and other local landowners.

Affordable, convenient and connected

Maitland Metro will provide affordable, strategically located housing for hundreds of middle- and low-income residents.

At the heart of the Maitland Metro urban regeneration project is the development in the coming years of seven well-designed, high-quality residential apartment buildings with retail components.
